Shabbat Services and Torah Study: Pirkei Avot--Exploring Rabbinic Ethics. Torah Reading: Tazria-Metzora

  • The Chatham Synagogue 1536 County Road 28 Chatham Center, NY 12184 United States (map)

Rabbi Or Rose joins us today to lead services and a discussion. The Torah Study Topic: "Pirkei Avot: Exploring Rabbinic Ethics"

It is customary in many Jewish communities to study Pirkei Avot (Ethics of the Fathers) between the holidays of Pesach and Shavuot. This practice is understood as a way to help us move from liberation to revelation--preparing our hearts for a renewed relationship with God, Torah, and community. Join us as we explore selections from this beloved rabbinic text, with a focus on the relationship of personal growth, interpersonal responsibility, and the search for wisdom.

Rabbi Rose is Director of the Center for Global Judaism at Hebrew College in Boston, and he also serves as co-director of the Center for Interreligious and Community Leadership Education, a joint venture of Hebrew College and Andover Newton Theological School.
